Based in Hazratganj, Advocate Ramesh Kumar gets evicted for not paying his rent, finds accommodation with a Nawab, but is subsequently evicted from there also after forcing a tenant of 20-years, Digambernath, to move out. Ramesh then falls for the latter's daughter, Shanti, dons a guise of an old man, calls himself Mirza, and becomes their paying guest. He is able to win her heart, convinces her dad to let him live there, as well as finds employment next door with Public Prosecutor Dayal. He will soon face challenges when Shanti's sister, Uma, and her alcoholic husband, Prakash, move in; he will not only take to alcohol but also frequent the company of Dayal's attractive wife, Chanchal, and estrange himself from Shanti - but nothing will prepare him for the chain of events that will follow after two sudden deaths and an apparent homicide - shattering and changing everyone's lives forever.

Raju meets Urmila in New Zealand. They have a fast romance and things are going well until Raju must make a trip back to India. While he is there, he meets Sharmila, pregnant and jilted by her boyfriend. He agrees to pretend to be her husband for her family, dump her in front of them so they will take her back after they see how unreasonable he is. The masquerade goes smoothly until Urmila appears and thinks she's been jilted. Which leads to conflict between the couple that may last for a lifetime.

Wealthy Deepak comes to the rescue of a village belle named Tara, marries her in secret, leaves her with a promise to return. When Tara finds out she is pregnant, and Deepak has abandoned her she gets a stroke and as a result loses her voice. Subsequently, she gives birth to a son, and leaves the village to go to Bombay to look for Deepak. Once there, she comes across Deepak, who will not have anything to do with her, and gives her some money to look after herself and the child. She abandons the child in a taxi-cab, and the child ends up with Deepak's sister, Neela. Watch how hilarious chaos reigns as the child keeps on ending up with Deepak - no matter what he does to get rid of it.
